Does betterPortrait use artificial intelligence (AI) for headshot creation?

The final headshot is not artificially generated – it is an enhanced version of the uploaded smartphone photo. Behind the scenes, our algorithm uses the latest generative models, some of which we have trained ourselves. We are actively involved in research in this field and continuously improve our algorithm.

Our Story

How it all began ...

December 2025
After a good year on the market, we launch our first hardware product: a photo station for creating high-quality employee photos directly in the company. We sensed that this was a need for some companies and immediately put five stations into operation, including at energieUri.
June 2025
After almost a year, we convert the company into a public limited company (AG). Patrick Tschudi also joins as the fourth co-founder. Working Bicycle AG as well as Mario Hürbin and Joshua Huber also participate for additional sales expertise.
May 2025
With our technical team, we were able to completely redesign our dashboard for the first time. The most-used processes are now user-friendly and intuitive, while the technical foundation of image editing remains the same.
February 2025
Due to increasing demand, we hire the first employees for our tech team. Laura and Aurel now support Pascal in improving our algorithms and developing our dashboard.
December 2024
It became clear that digital onboarding was in high demand. In addition to the existing online dashboard, we quickly developed our own web app for uploading images directly by the employees themselves.
September 2024
With Juventus School and its 300 employees, we win our first larger customer. Market demand, from smaller SMEs to publicly traded companies, is very high.
June 2024
After three months of testing, the company was officially founded and registered as a GmbH in the commercial register. A simple website was set up for the launch and we started selling our solution.
March 2024
Automated image editing was not yet a hot topic at the time. Pascal therefore delved deeply into the current possibilities and quickly developed a first prototype. The quality of image editing improved very quickly.
January 2024
During a dinner together at the restaurant «Miake Izakaya» in Basel, Luca and Jérôme told their entrepreneur friend Pascal about the idea of betterPortrait. Pascal was immediately enthusiastic.
