Our story

How it all started...

  • January 2024

Over dinner at the restaurant “Miake Izakaya” in Basel, Luca and Jérôme told their entrepreneur friend Pascal about the idea behind betterPortrait. Pascal was immediately enthusiastic.

  • March 2024

At the time, automated image editing was still a niche topic. Pascal took a deep dive into the available technologies and quickly developed a first prototype. The image processing quality improved rapidly.

  • June 2024

After a three-month testing phase, the company was officially founded and registered as a limited liability company. We launched a simple website and began selling our solution.

  • September 2024

We win our first major client with the Juventus School, which has 300 employees. Market demand is strong – from small businesses to publicly listed companies.

  • December 2024

It became clear that digital onboarding was in high demand. In addition to our existing online dashboard, we quickly developed a standalone web app for employees to upload their photos themselves.

  • February 2025

Due to increasing demand, we hire the first members of our tech team. Laura and Aurel now support Pascal in improving our algorithms and developing our dashboard.

  • May 2025

With our tech team, we were able to completely redesign our dashboard for the first time. The most-used processes are now user-friendly and intuitive, while the technical foundation of the image processing remains unchanged.

  • June 2025

After nearly a year, we convert the company into a public limited company. Patrick Tschudi joins as the fourth co-founder. Working Bicycle AG, along with Mario Hürbin and Joshua Huber, also join to contribute additional sales expertise.
